Gracing traditional tango halls and concert stages in Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Lima, Montevideo, Quito and Caracas acclaimed latin recording artists La Grela Tango Quintet easily enchant one with their heartfelt compositions, seductive on-stage chemistry and exceptional musicianship.
Traditional opera vocal study at the esteemed Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome led Marie-Claire Giraud down a unique path. A natural performer who is ever open to explore she is known for a rare talent to fuse her magnetic contralto opera vocal with noted Jazz, House, Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass artists.
A cinematic soundstory virtuoso is what best describes emerging viola disruptor, sound designer and composer Trevor New. Garnering critical acclaim for his classical solo viola fused with live electronic looping and the Myo armband he is an interloper at the forefront of the new electro acoustic genre. Definitely one to be watched.

HOW ‘NOT TOTALLY TANGO’ CAME TO BE
MEET CRYSTAL ~ CURATOR
As an avid cross-genre live music lover/tango dancer by night and creative director/culture forecaster by day I happened to meet La Grela in Lima, Peru by pure chance while on a work assignment.
I travel a lot for work and when I am in a new country one of the first things I research is where to tango! Having experienced many amazing live tango performances at concert halls and milongas still, to this day, La Grela really stands out from the crowd. I was struck by how audiences seemed mesmerized. No easy feat in our world today. It was their music mastery, yes, but what I could only ascertain with probing convo and observation was that it was something else, their distinct synchronistic chemistry was undeniable.
Inspired by their bold and magical presence I then connected Marie-Clare and Trevor in New York whom I’ve had the great pleasure of working with before. I somehow knew there would be a shared magnetism, knowledge and willingness to explore new music boundaries.
Having previously worked with a lot of amazing critically acclaimed musicians I believe this particular synergistic connection is one that will be something many music lovers - even beyond tango - will very much appreciate.
